Dr. Murken earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2001 and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado in 2006. He then pursued additional subspecialty training through a Foot and Ankle Surgery Fellowship at Harbor/UCLA and Balance Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Long Beach, California, completing his fellowship in 2007. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
His approach to orthopedic care emphasizes a thorough evaluation and individualized treatment plan, with the goal of maintaining an active lifestyle while minimizing pain. Whenever appropriate, Dr. Murken considers nonsurgical treatment options before surgery, while also offering advanced surgical solutions when they are needed.
In addition to his foot and ankle expertise, Dr. Murken has experience in adult and pediatric general orthopedics, sports medicine, and fracture care. He has been recognized as a 5280 Top Doc and received the University of Colorado Award for Outstanding Medical Student Teacher.
