Vascular imaging (blood clots, aneurysms, circulatory disorders)

What to Expect During Your MRI

  • MRI exams typically last between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the type of scan.
  • You will be asked to lie still inside the MRI scanner, which is a tunnel-like machine that uses strong magnets to capture images.
  • If contrast dye is needed for your scan, an IV will be placed before the exam.
  • The MRI machine produces loud tapping or thumping sounds during the scan, but earplugs or headphones will be provided for comfort.

Preparing for Your MRI

Ensuring a smooth and safe MRI experience starts with proper preparation. Here’s what you need to know before your appointment:

Metal & Medical Device Precautions

  • If you have metal implants, pacemakers, or other medical devices, inform your provider before scheduling your MRI to confirm compatibility with the magnetic field.
  • You may be asked to remove metal objects such as jewelry, watches, eyeglasses, and hearing aids, as they can interfere with imaging.

Fasting & Contrast Requirements

Mammography at Aspen Mountain Medical Center

At Aspen Mountain Medical Center, we combine cutting-edge mammography technology with a compassionate, patient-centered approach to provide the most accurate, comfortable, and comprehensive mammogram experience available.

State-of-the-Art 3D Mammography for Superior Accuracy

We use advanced 3-dimensional (3D) mammography, which has been clinically proven to detect 20% to 65% more invasive breast cancers compared to traditional 2D mammography. In fact, 3D mammograms are the only mammogram type FDA-approved as superior for dense breasts, offering greater accuracy while reducing the likelihood of unnecessary follow-up screenings.

During the exam, our 3D mammography system captures multiple 2D digital images, which are then reconstructed into a high-resolution 3D image. This allows radiologists to examine breast tissue layer by layer, leading to earlier and more precise cancer detection.

A More Comfortable Mammogram Experience

We understand that mammograms can sometimes be uncomfortable, which is why we have enhanced our technology with comfort-focused innovations, including:
The SmartCurve™ Breast Stabilization System – Proven to improve comfort for 93% of patients who previously experienced discomfort with traditional compression.
MammoPad® Breast Cushion – A soft, warm cushion that eliminates the cold feel of the imaging plate, stabilizes breast tissue for optimal accuracy, and reduces discomfort from the receptor’s edges.

Personalized, Tranquil Care

Your comfort and confidence are our priorities. That’s why we reserve a full hour for your appointment, ensuring you have time to ask questions, share concerns, and receive personalized attention from our caring, experienced technologists. Our calming, tranquil exam rooms are designed to put you at ease, creating a stress-free experience from start to finish.

Preparing for Your Mammogram

  • No physician’s order is required for screening mammograms, but you will need to designate a provider for follow-up care.
  • We recommend avoiding deodorant, lotion, or powder on your underarms or chest on the day of your exam, as these can interfere with imaging.
  • If you have dense breasts or a history of breast cancer, let your technologist know, as additional imaging may be recommended.

At Aspen Mountain Medical Center, we are committed to providing exceptional breast care with the latest advancements in early detection and patient comfort. Schedule your 3D mammogram today and experience a new level of care in women’s health.
